On May 31, 2026, Congresswoman Janette Garin, together with Board Members Atty. Rica Garin and Jo Ann Germinanda, as well as Mayor Richard Garin, led the inauguration of a significant infrastructure project for the residents of Barangay Lanutan: the new seawall designed for flood control and coastal protection. The projects aims to safeguard the community from the increasing threats posed by environmental hazards and social challenges related to flooding and erosion.

The newly constructed seawall is expected to serve as a vital barrier against rising waters, storm surges, and other climate-related events that have long impacted the barangay’s safety and livelihood.

In his message, Mayor Garin said that by reinforcing the coastline, the project seeks not only to prevent property damage but also to enhance the overall resilience of the residents of Barangay Lanutan. He also emphasized their commitment to ensuring sustainable development and improving the quality of life for the residents through such protective measures, and others.
