On April 13, 2026, Mayor Richard Garin, together with DSWD Regional Director Joselito Estember, officially launched the DSWD Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Satellite Office in Miagao. This event marks a significant milestone in enhancing social welfare services for the local community.
With the establishment of the SWAD office, essential services such as financial assistance, burial benefits, and medical aid are now more accessible, eliminating the need for residents to travel to the main DSWD Field Office. This closer proximity ensures that help is readily available to those who need it most.
βWe are creating the framework in times of crisis. We maintain the satellite office closer to the people, advancing the services that are crucial in this times,β said Regional Director Estember. His words emphasize the commitment of DSWD to respond effectively and promptly to the communityβs needs.
Mayor Richard Garin also expressed his appreciation for this initiative, which was facilitated through the support and request of Congresswoman Janette Garin. He highlighted how the new satellite office will significantly eases access to social welfare programs for residents of the First District.
