The Municipality of Miagao proudly celebrated its achievements after securing multiple honors in environmental governance during the awarding ceremony held on November 28, 2025, at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel in Iloilo City.
The accolades were received by Forester Isidro C. Mosura, Jr., Shenna Mae P. Nique, and Hon. Marlou Niones, recognizing their outstanding contributions to sustainable environmental management.
Awards received include:
– Exemplary Performance Award in the 2025 Provincial Search for Outstanding Local Government Units (LGUs) in Environmental Governance, Year 9, accompanied by a plaque and a β±30,000 cash prize.
– Forester Isidro C. Mosura, Jr. honored as a Good Performing MENR Officer for his dedicated service.
– Best Provincial Environmental Governance Initiative in the Green and Blue Carbon Category for the Communal Food Forest Project, acknowledged as a sustainable, community-managed ecosystem.
– The Miagao Communal Food Forest was also bestowed with the Certificate of Global Gratitude, along with a commemorative book and seedlings, awarded by Normandy Honor for Peace with the Earth. This recognition highlights the projectβs pioneering role in climate change adaptation and promoting ecological balance through the development of communal food forests. It stands as one of the distinguished initiatives in the Province of Iloilo.
These accolades underscore Miagaoβs commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable community development.
