On May 5, 2026, the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, led by LTC Jekyll Julian Dulawan, together with BGen. Nhel Richard Patricio and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Head Cornelio Salinas, and paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Richard Garin.
During this meeting, the Philippine Army personnel presented to Mayor Garin the proposed interagency territorial defense operation exercise scheduled to take place in Miagao.
This comprehensive military exercise will involve multiple agencies, including the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, Philippine Navy, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Health, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and various barangay officials. The joint operation aims to enhance coordination and preparedness among all participating units, ensuring a swift and effective response to any possible eventualities such as natural disasters, security threats, or other emergencies in the region. By conducting this exercise, the Philippine Army and its partner agencies reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the community and strengthening local defense capabilities.
