In a concerted effort to uphold effective governance, all 50 pre-identified barangays participated in a detailed validation process as part of the municipality’s Responsible Government Local Governance for Barangays (RGLGB) Program.
In an interview with MLGOO Erwin Garque, he explained that this comprehensive assessment ensures that each barangay’s initiatives and services not only fulfill their official mandates but also align with the broader vision of the municipality. The evaluation is a key component of the second-year RGLGB Award.
The validation unfolded in two distinct phases. The first was a table-based review conducted from January 13 to 15, 2026. This will be followed by onsite inspections for barangays shortlisted during the initial phase, to be carried out from January 20 to 22, 2026.
Assessment categories covered a wide range of areas, including Best Punong Barangay, Best Barangay Secretary, Best Barangay Tanod, and Best Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC), among others.
Winners will be revealed on February 4, 2026, at the RGLGB Awards Night. Each honoree will receive a cash prize of PHP 20,000 in recognition of their outstanding performance.
