To address the long-standing issue of flooding, the Office of Congresswoman Janette Garin has allocated funds for the construction, upgrading, and rehabilitation of drainage systems along the Iloilo-Antique National Road, specifically from Igtuba to Kirayan Sur.
On October 1, 2025, the Department of Public Works and Highways, in collaboration with Congresswoman Garinβs office and Mayor Richard Garin, conducted a Pre-Construction Conference to formalize plans for this critical infrastructure project.
The project scope includes the installation of concrete-lined canals, construction of 0.15-meter-thick concrete sidewalks, laying of Reinforced Cement Pipe Culverts (RCPC), and application of pavement markings.
Once completed, this drainage improvement will effectively mitigate flooding issues that have plagued the area for decades, enhancing safety and accessibility for residents and motorists alike.
