In their efforts toward creating better experiences for the incoming tourists, the Local Government Unit of Miagao under the leadership of Hon. Engr. Oscar “Richard” S. Garin, Jr. conducts a seminar on Integrated Community Heritage Stewardship Training Program: Cultural Mapping, Conservation and Preservation of Cultural and Natural Property and Capacity Building of Barangay Tourism Councils last December 4, 2025 (Thursday), 9:00 A.M. to 5 P.M. at LIGA Hall, Barangay Guibongan.

The Office of The Municipal Tourism Officer headed by Mrs. Mary Diane N. Flordeliza, MGDH I/ Municipal Tourism Officer said a total of 100 individuals out of 119 barangays in our Municipality participated in the training program, including barangay officials-in-charge of their respective tourism industry.

With guest speakers from the Iloilo Science and Technology University, Miagao Campus, Prof. Mary XZ Montalban- Gelano, Instructor I specializing hospitality and culinary along with Prof. Alfie Anthony N. Neodama, Study Leader for Cultural Mapping on First and Second Districts of the Province of Iloilo collaborated extensively to make sure our tourism frontliners for both broad and specific tasks such as taking their respective barangay tourism industry continued knowledge-building yield better experiences for the future tourists of Miagao.

This is such an important principle that we have to share with everyone. A big part of what we want to showcase to the world is our people, and in doing so, we have to be discerning, protective, and purposeful. And to have this emphasized by our tourism industry is a great reminder that we are indeed in the vision, empowering, modern, and inclusive track.
