In preparation for Typhoon Uwan’s imminent entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRM) Council, led by Mayor Richard Garin, has carried out a comprehensive pre-disaster risk assessment.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Typhoon Uwan is projected to enter PAR by Saturday. The storm is expected to bring widespread heavy to torrential rainfall accompanied by strong winds, affecting large regions across the country.
Characterized as a very large typhoon, Uwan’s estimated diameter spans from Batanes in the north to Bohol in the south. This expansive size suggests that even areas distant from the typhoon’s eye may experience significant impacts, including severe flooding and wind damage. Local authorities remain vigilant, emphasizing preparedness and timely response to mitigate potential hazards.
