The activity was a collaborative effort between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Iloilo Coffee Council, and the Local Government of Miagao, led by Mayor Oscar “Richard” S. Garin Jr., through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. This initiative aimed to: foster direct linkages between coffee farmers and coffee processors, enhance competitiveness, improve profitability, and promote greater long-term sustainability within the local coffee industry.
The event was attended by 50 local coffee farmers representing various coffee-producing barangays in the Municipality of Miagao. Also present were key stakeholders and industry players, including:
Ms. Jonelyn Navara, President of the Iloilo Coffee Council
Ms. Jonalyn Bautista, International Coffee Trader
Aura Canos from Kape Bisayas
Ms. Joy Anne Erazo, from the DTI Iloilo Regional Office
This synergy-building activity is a strong step forward in empowering local coffee growers by bridging the gap between production and processing, thereby strengthening the coffee value chain in Iloilo.
