The Municipality of Miagao, through its Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) and guided by the expert stewardship of Dr. Rhea Palacios, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO), is proudly competing for the esteemed Green Banner Seal of Compliance Award. This notable accolade serves as a gateway to the much sought-after National Nutrition Council Crown Award Hall in Nutrition. These recognitions underscore Miagao’s dedication to implementing thorough and impactful programs focused on enhancing the nutritional health of its entire community.
On August 26, 2025, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) carried out an in-depth review of Miagao’s nutrition services and related activities, carefully assessing the efforts of the MNC led by Mayor Richard Garin. Using the comprehensive MELLPI-Pro framework, the evaluation examined both the effectiveness and efficiency of program delivery.
This detailed process not only gauged important performance metrics but also provided insightful recommendations for improving service delivery.
Central to the Local Government Unit’s nutrition initiatives are innovative programs like TokSam, Nutrivention, Gatas Mo, Kabuhi Ko, and NitriLand. Together, these programs showcase the MNC’s ability to address nutrition in a comprehensive manner—extending support beyond just pregnant women and young children to meet the nutritional needs of the wider population. Each initiative is carefully crafted to tackle specific nutrition-related issues, promoting a well-rounded and inclusive strategy that encourages health and well-being across all age groups.
Alongside the municipality’s collective pursuit of these prestigious honors, Dr. Palacios is also competing for the Regional Award as Municipal Nutrition Action Officer. Her leadership continue to inspire innovative efforts from
among stakeholders, including the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, in advancing community nutrition efforts.
