The Municipality of Miagao, through its Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) and under the leadership of Dr. Rhea Palacios, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO), is proudly defending its recognition as the National Nutrition Council Crown Awardee in Nutrition in a validation dubbed as “1st Year Maintenance Crown Award.”
This recognition highlights Miagao’s continuous commitment to carrying out comprehensive and impactful programs aimed at improving the nutritional health of its entire community.
On June 2-5, 2026, the National Nutrition Evaluation Team conducted a thorough assessment of Miagao’s nutrition services and associated activities, closely reviewing the MNC’s efforts led by Mayor Richard Garin. Employing the detailed MELLPI-Pro framework, the evaluation focused on both the effectiveness and efficiency of program implementation.
This careful process not only measured sustainability of the key performance indicators but also offered valuable suggestions for enhancing service delivery.
At the heart of the Local Government Unit’s nutrition efforts are innovative programs such as TokSam, Nutrivention, Gatas Mo, Kabuhi Ko, and NutriLand. Together, these initiatives demonstrate the MNC’s capacity to address nutrition comprehensively—extending support beyond pregnant women and young children to cover the nutritional needs of the broader population. Each program is thoughtfully designed to tackle specific nutrition challenges, promoting a balanced and inclusive approach that fosters health and well-being for people of all ages.
