The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMA), in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center Western Visayas, initiated the Artificial Insemination (AI) program in several barangays as part of the Bayanihan sa Barangay initiative from September 3 to 5, 2025.
This program targeted 16 barangays with the highest populations of cattle and carabaos, providing a range of services including artificial insemination for female livestock, pregnancy diagnosis, deworming, vitamin supplementation, and veterinary consultations.
In an interview, Mr. Albert Narte explained that the initiative aims to improve livestock quality, enhance the nutrition and health of local animals, identify pregnant and non-pregnant livestock, and address common challenges faced by farmers in raising their animals.
