On August 4, 2025, some 47 solo parents in town, who are beneficiaries of the Walang Gutom Program administered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, received assistance aimed at improving their access to essential food items. Each participant was granted a total of ₱3,000 worth of goods, helping to alleviate immediate food insecurity.
Under this initiative, beneficiaries receive food credit assistance amounting to ₱3,000 per month, delivered through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. This card can be used to purchase a designated list of nutritious food items from participating retail stores, ensuring that families have access to quality and affordable sustenance.
The Walang Gutom Program is part of a broader effort to combat hunger and reduce poverty in the community by directly addressing the basic needs of low-income families. Through this targeted support, the program strives to empower recipients and improve their overall well-being, contributing to a more food-secure and resilient population.
