On October 10, 2025, around 198 residents of Miagao, recognized as the most impoverished and enrolled in the Walang Gutom Program managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, were given aid to better their access to necessary food items. Each person received goods worth ₱3,000 in total, which helped to reduce immediate food shortages.
As part of this project, those enrolled get ₱3,000 in monthly food credit help via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. People can use this card to buy certain healthy foods from stores that take part in the program, which makes sure that families have access to good, cheap food.
The Walang Gutom Program is a piece of a larger plan to fight hunger and cut down on poverty in the town by handling the basic needs of families with little money. With this focused help, the program works to give people the tools they need and make them healthier overall, which helps to make the people who live there more able to get food and bounce back from hard times.
