MIAGAO, Iloilo – The Municipal Health Office (MHO) in tandem with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMA) introduce organic farming to 73 I am for HOPE (Harmonized and Optimistic Program Enhancement) beneficiaries of the Municipality.

During their regular quarterly conference, the beneficiaries – who are teenage mothers, were taught of the benefits of organic fruits and vegetables to them and their family.  They were also given organic produce from the OMA which will eventually inspire them to engage in organic farming.

“We have introduced organic farming to them and this will form part of the key activities under the I am HOPE project.  Surely organic farming will help uplift their quality of life,” said Ms. Ma. Frea Monsale, Focal Person on Organic Farming.

I am for HOPE is a locally initiated program of the MHO for indigent teenage mothers of the Municipality.  It was conceptualized by Dr. Jessel Gellada with the aim to implement strategies on health and social concerns among teenage mothers.

“As Municipal Health Officer, I hope for these teenage mothers to have a good health-related quality of life. Hence, this Program, “ said Dr. Gellada.

Earlier on, they were trained by TESDA for massage, manicure and pedicure as part of livelihood project of the Program.  (ABMande)
