MIAGAO, Iloilo – Mayor Macario Napulan, MD leads the local government officials and employees in the Clean-up Drive Kontra dengue in the major streets of the poblacion here.

The Clean-up Drive is an annual activity collaborated with the Office of the Municipal Health Officer through the active participation of the barangay officials and local government officials and employees.  It aims to abate the looming increase of dengue cases in Miagao with the onset of the rainy season.

In his message, Mayor Napulan enjoined everyone to take part in the activity.

“Combating dengue and environmental awareness is not just the role of the barangay officials and government employees because they are being paid by the government.  Everybody has the responsibility to support activities of this kind,” said Mayor Napulan as he stressed that the LGU has in fact implemented numerous programs and projects to entice environmental consciousness to every Miagawanons.

“(My) advocacy will always be on the environment making everyone realize that our environment is fragile and we have to act now to fix it.”

MORE ENVIROMENTAL PROGRAMS

Result of the garbage characterization in Miagao shows that low density plastic tops the quality of garbage disposed by Miagaowanons daily.

As such, Mayor Napulan reiterated his campaign to support the Basura Mo Pagkaon  Mo Program which was launched to encourage everyone to dispose their plastics properly by giving out incentives based on the quantity of low density plastics that will be gathered.  This LDP will then be turned over to the Villar Foundation and will be used as materials for the fabrication of arm chairs for use in schools.
