The Municipality of Miagao joins in the celebration of the 38thNutrition Month in July 2012. This year’s theme,
Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain!focuses on the following objectives:
a) increase vegetable consumption as part of a healthy diet to address micronutrient deficiencies and non-communicable diseases;
b) promote vegetable gardening as a source of additional food and income; and
c) increase demand for vegetables to help local vegetable farmers.
We give importance to vegetables because a) Filipinos are eating less and less vegetables per day; b) vegetables can help prevent major non-communicable diseases; c) consumption of vegetables can help prevent micronutrient deficiencies; and d) having vegetable gardens in the households can increase supply and availability of vegetables for families.
