MIAGAO, Iloilo – Some 52 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDS) graduates of Community Base Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) from the Municipality of Miagao are now subject to the Moral Recovery and Retreat, an Aftercare Transformation and Integration Program spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) at Garin Farm Pilgrimage Resort in San Joaquin town on June 14-16, 2019.

The 2-days and 3-nights activity aims to transform the identified drug dependents into community leaders that can be mobilized in times of natural disasters.

MSWDO Rosalinda Mueda said that the activity includes lectures of credible speakers in the like of Fr. Warlito Namo and personnel from the WVSU-MC.  Fr. Namo will talk about Marital Enhancement and how to become effective parent while the personnel from WVSU MC will talk on Anger and Stress Management.

Mrs. Mueda likewise explained that of the 103 PWUDS in Miagao, 87 were assessed and on the Addiction Severity Index.  Of the number, however, 76 successfully graduated from CBRP which was conducted and facilitated by the Municipal Health Office.  Subsequently, they become subject of the abovementioned Aftercare Program.

According to her, the Program is one of the requirements for the PDEA to issue clearance to PWUDS and remove them from the PDEA watch list.   Also, they must have completed four to six sessions of CBR.

Under the Program, the PWUDS are expected to actively participate in the 18 months aftercare activities to include Basic Life Support, Basic Fire Fighting and 12 Steps to Addiction Recovery Sessions among others. (ABMande)
