The vision of the GREAT Women Project aims to support and promote the economic empowerment of women, especially those in microenterprises, by contributing to the creation of a gender-responsive enabling environment.
The goals of the GREAT Women Project are to foster efficient, responsive, transparent, and accountable governance at all levels, and to support the development of sustainable SMEs that can create more, better and decent jobs for both men and women.
The purpose of the GREAT Women Project is to contribute to a gender-responsive enabling environment for the economic empowerment of women, particularly women in microenterprises.
There are several reasons why the GREAT Women Project is pursuing women’s economic empowerment:
In the Philippines, microenterprises are leading engines of economic growth. Microenterprise development is a major viable strategy for women’s economic empowerment.
On August 14, 2009, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Republic Act 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women.
